A: Newspaper ads, postcards, radio, bulk mail flyers, coupon inserts, and typical advertising media are based on the "shotgun" philosophy - contact everyone in a given area and hope for the best. It's highly inefficient because 99% or more of your dollars are wasted on people who will never buy your products or services.
A: Five major factors determine the success of any direct mail program: (1) The offer, (2) The audience it reaches, (3) The copy, (4) The design, and (5) The physical format. On all these counts, we're by far the best in the business. For over 20 years we've tested and refined our solo-mailed Personal Letters, Gift Certificates, and attention-getting envelopes.
A: Because new movers are 5 times more likely to become loyal regulars. These people are on the move. They're eager to find new places to shop, eat, get their car repaired, and buy all kinds of goods and services. They'll hear from you long before your competitors know they're in town, in as little as 2 to 12 weeks.
A: Studies show that newly moved families take about 6 months to settle into their new surroundings. They make many lifestyle decisions, such as which restaurants to frequent or where to get their auto serviced at the 3-4 month period, after they get more critical things out of the way, such as where they packed their socks.
A: We use a proprietary method to compile names from about 150 sources, including county courthouses, credit bureaus, utility companies, and magazine and catalog address changes. We eliminate duplicates and double-check for accuracy. We can target by gender, income, type of residence, distance, ZIP Code, and more.

A: Use the ZIP Code tool in the right sidebar on this page. Or you may call and speak to an account representative who can give you a count over the phone.
A: We don't like to over-promise, so we generally aim for 10% to 15% response. That's impressive considering that most direct mail gurus say 1% or 2% is good. However, many business owners have told us they've seen as high as 30%, 50%, or even 80% response!
A: Our pricing is simple, straightforward, and actually pretty cheap. Only $1.75 for each letter and Gift Certificate mailed. Add 15¢ for printing on both sides. Download our FREE brochure and price list.
A: One low, flat price per mailer includes everything: list, data processing, optional selects, CASS certification, copywriting, design, color printing, personalization, addressing, folding, assembly, postage, mailing, everything.
A: No catch. No strings. No contracts. No minimums. No set-up fees. No surprises of any kind. There's one, low, affordable price per piece mailed. You just tell us how many new customers you want each month, and we'll recommend how many pieces we should mail to reach that goal. But quantities are up to you.
A: Give us a call at 800-926-2451 and speak to one of our experienced account reps. He or she will help decide the best trade areas for you to target, how to best apply our demographic screening, what Gift Certificate offer and letter copy will work best, and the monthly budget that works for you.
A: No one can say for sure until you try it. But based on information from Moving Targets advertisers, about 87% of businesses who try our service are happy with the new business it generates.
A: By your Return-On-Investment (ROI). Add the cost of our mailings to your cost (not the selling price) for all of your Gift Certificate offers. Then divide that by the number of new customers you make. If that number is less than the value of a new customer, you have a positive ROI and should keep using us. If your ROI is negative, then we are a waste of your money.
A: If you give us a credit card for your monthly payments, we require no payment up front. If you want us to invoice you, we ask for an estimated one month deposit. We will totally refund the deposit if you stop doing business with us or after an established good payment history.
A: Call us at 800-926-2451 and one of our account reps will tell you.
A: No, but if we happen to have a competitor in your area, we try to make sure your Gift Certificate and letter use a different and unique design.
A: We know from years of experience working with businesses just like yours what will work and what won't. So we'll target your mailings to the most promising areas. We can use 5-digit ZIP Codes, mile radius, or even a custom trade area for your business.
A: They work equally well in both. We have long-term happy customers in the biggest cities and in the smallest towns. In a large urban setting, you may want to target a small area, while in a rural community, you may need to target 25 or more miles away.
A: Yes. We have demographic filters for income, distance moved, type of dwelling (apartment or single-family unit) and gender.
A: It depends on your specific business. In general, something free, with no strings attached, will work best. You know your business and we know through experience what works. Together, we will come up with the best "irresistible" offer for your business. Examples: Free oil change, Free entree, Free pizza, Free deluxe car wash, etc.
A: We find that 90 days is almost always best. Shorter and you lower your response rate. Longer and there's little sense of urgency, and your Gift Certificate may be forgotten. Remember, the people we're targeting have just moved. They're still trying to get phone service and find their underwear. Be patient. You'll see them soon.
A: Not automatically. List suppliers with premium quality, high response buyers insist on one-time rentals. So by contract, we can't just give them to you. We can purchase names for unlimited usage, but we must charge an extra fee to supply that list. Frankly, customers who have bought these unlimited usage lists have found them to be a waste of money. Pursuing people who don't respond to our persuasive mailer the first time usually means they won't respond to a follow up mailer. We recommend focusing on the people who redeem your Gift Certificates because they will be the most receptive audience for follow-up mailings.
A: It depends on your type of business and the offer you make. Generally, we get response rates of 10% to 25% but we have many customers that see 40% to 50% and higher. One of our account representatives will be glad to discuss your situation and give you a projected response rate
A: For several reasons. Not everyone will see the Gift Certificate. Some people may be away, some will choose not to open the mailing, some may not need what you have to offer, and others may not find your offer attractive. However, our response rates are typically much higher than almost all other forms of advertising or direct mail.
A: It depends on the impression you make when they first visit. In most cases, we'd expect you to turn 25% or more into regular customers.
A: Make a good first impression. Don't try to upsell them on the first visit. It's more important to make a friend. Give them a reason to come back, such as a bounce back offer. Also, it's a good idea to send them a thank you letter after their first visit.
A: Ideally, you have a system that allows you to track that. If not, giving them a coupon good for a future discount and tracking the response will reveal the repeat buyers.
